BOSS WOMAN 135 | HAIG PARK VILLAGE MARKETS
A GIN AND TONIC WITH ALEX AND ROSIE FROM HAIG PARK VILLAGE MARKETS
What is your drink of choice? (doesn’t have to be alcoholic)Anything bubbly! Or a G&T never goes astray. You can pick up some great garnishes and flavour boosters for your G&T at the markets – we recommend the dried strawberries or oranges from The Nut Shoppe.
Tell us a little bit about yourself?Rosie and Alex come both from Events and Communications backgrounds and our love of visiting farmers markets every weekend brought us together, that and the delicious almond croissants.
Tell us about Haig Park Village Markets and how it came to be The markets idea was sparked by our love (or obsession) with farmers markets, the vibe, the atmosphere that you get when you are there, we knew we had the skills to create something special and different to what was currently on offer. The markets took some time to get off the ground, lots of planning and hard work.
We sought out the perfect location to bring our ideas to life and create a new and different type of farmers market. Our vision is to create a market that brings together people, a place to meetup, have delicious food, listen to some great tunes and chat to the farmers or producers to get some ideas for your food for the week, all in the one location. We want to work with community groups to offer a range of activities such as workshops or yoga or kiddies programs and offer these alongside the markets.
How can we support Haig Park Village Markets? We would love the whole community to get behind the markets and come do their weekly shopping there. Our stallholders go to so much effort to bring their farm fresh produce and hand made artisan products to the markets, we need the community to bring their trolley and bags along and stock up for the week!
Any advice for those who are thinking about turning their dreams into a reality?Persist! We have had many times when we’ve thought its all too hard, luckily we have each other to keep the motivation up. We had read so many blogs of entrepreneurs that said the successful ones were the ones who kept at it, and they were right. Always believe that one day it will become reality.
